10 Best Low Carb Foods to Beat a Chocolate Craving
I know how overwhelming it can be when starting out on a new food program to find things that are “safe” to eat, especially when dealing with food sensitivities.
I’ve tried many foods that are supposed to be healthy for you. Some taste great. Some are terrible.
All of the items I’ve recommended below are low carb or Keto friendly. I’ve listed some of my favorites below.
When you’re craving chocolate:

- Lakanto (This is by far my favorite. Lakanto gets the taste right. Lakanto gets the texture right. The only downside is that their products are very expensive, even compared to other low carb chocolate options.)

- Lily’s (Many of Lily’s Chocolate products contain milk. If you know you do not have a dairy sensitivity, feel free to try others. My favorite is the Salted Caramel Chocolate Baking Chips. They are the perfect taste and texture that chocolate should be. I have only listed products that do not contain the most common food allergens.)

Not Recommended:
ChocZero: I do not recommend ChocZero because of the Soluble Corn Fiber included in almost all of their products. In my experience, this has the same impact on your blood sugar as eating regular sugar-filled chocolate. Their products taste great, but I was unable to lose weight while eating them.
High Key Foods: I love, love, love High Key Foods products. I do not recommend the chocolate products because most of their products contain dairy. The taste of these products is the closest to the “real thing” for cookies, muffins, etc. If you don’t have a dairy sensitivity, try them out.
Atkins Endulge: These taste pretty good, but contain many ingredients that are questionable. I often got a headache after eating any Atkins Endulge treats.
What to look for when choosing products for yourself
There are many products and companies that say their products are “Keto” or “low carb” when in reality, they are not. New products are popping up all the time, so it’s important to know what to look for when you’re deciding to try a new product.
If you are trying to figure out if a product is worth buying, look at the ingredient list. If the product contains any of the ingredients below, don’t buy it!
- Any of the most common allergens: milk, egg, gluten, soy, peanuts, or corn (unless of course you know you are not sensitive to any of them)
- Artificial Sweeteners or Sugar
- Sugar (also “cane sugar”)
- Maltitol
- Isomalt
- Sucralose (Splenda)
- High Fructose Corn Sugar
- Natural Sugars
- Coconut Sugar
- Agave Nectar
